For her clients who are seniors, Ms. Levy has extensive Medicaid planning experience for those seeking long term care planning or who are in crisis mode. Ms. Levy understands that seniors have significant concerns regarding their independence, maintaining their dignity, and that protecting their assets is paramount. Depending on each client's unique personal and financial situation, Ms. Levy will provide clients with guidance and strategies to protect assets from a "Medicaid spend down" to enable them to become eligible for either Community Medicaid (in-home care) or Institutionalized Medicaid (nursing home care) services.
Ms. Levy is appointed to the Part 136 Mediator Rosters for the Suffolk County Commercial Division, Suffolk County Surrogate's Court, Nassau County Supreme Commercial Division and the 3rd Judicial District Surrogate's Court. She is also appointed to the Special Master Roster for the Appellate Division, Second Department. Ms. Levy also serves as a Mediator in the following Counties: Albany, Bronx, Columbia, Greene, Kings, Nassau, New York, Queens, Rensselaer Schoharie, Suffolk Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester. In addition, the FIRM offers private Surrogate's Court, ElderLaw, Family and Commercial Mediation services. During Covid, all Mediation are held via Zoom.
Ms. Levy is frequently appointed by Nassau Supreme Court Judges as a Court Evaluator for Article 81 cases pursuant to the NY Mental Hygiene law, Guardian Ad Litem, Referee, Receiver and Private Mediator. Ms. Levy also is an approved FINRA Arbitrator and is the Vice Chair of the Elder Planning Committee for the Nassau County Bar Association.
Ms. Levy graduated from the School of Management at the State University of New York at Binghamton with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Management and Albany Law School with a Juris Doctor. She is a registered Life Insurance Agent by the NY State Department of Financial Services. Suzanne is a devoted mother to her teenage daughter and is an active member of the Nassau County Bar Association, Co-Chair of the Medicaid and Estates and Surrogates Court Committees for the Nassau County Bar, ElderCounsel, Orion Resource Group, Gerontology Professionals of New York, Elder Counsel and Temple Israel in Great Neck. Ms. Levy has also been a National Business Institute (NBI) speaker on Medicaid Planning.
